We had an adorable couple to share with you today! We met up with college sweethearts, Janey and Jacob last week on a cold, wintery Thursday evening. They were so cute together and we had such a fun time! Even their names are cute together! ;P
I spent part of my Christmas vacation from school reading romance novels, which makes me love hearing about our bride and groom's love stories even more. Once again we have a "two-sided" love story! LOVE!
Janey's Perspective:
It all started late October in 2010. I was looking for some guys to play on my coed intramural softball team. So, one of our mutual friends got the guys together, while I rounded up some girls. We would all go play at the Shiloh fields and our mutual friend was constantly bugging us about dating. He kept saying "y'all would be perfect together!" We both kind of blew him off and didn't say much about it. Once we started playing softball games, I realized how sweet, kind, and funny he was, so we started to hang out a little bit. Then, we had Thanksgiving break and Christmas break, so we didn't see each other much and would just talk occasionally. At this time, I thought Jacob didn't like me and I was sad! But, when we got back from break, I knew that wasn't the case at all! We instantly had a connection! We became "official" in February of 2011. For spring break, we had to go to different places because I had already made plans before I met him! I was so sad to leave him and never quit thinking about him all break!! I was so thankful to get back home and be with him! That's when I knew he was "the one" for me!! We continued to grow closer to each other and I still continue to love him more and more everyday! Jacob proposed on December 22, 2013. We were at his house in Van Buren and he asked me to go get ice cream at Braum's, so we went to get ice cream and on our way back to his house, he asked me if I wanted to go eat it on their dock by the pond, which is behind their house. It happened to be very cold that day, so I said, "Umm...let's not because it's freezing!" But, he proceeded to drive down there anyway. (Which turned out to be so worth it) When we got down to the pond, he had one of my Christmas presents, which was a painted canvas. So, I looked at the canvas and it had the verse, "I have found the one whom my soul loves" Song of Solomon 3:4. Then, he told me he had a question to ask me, but he wanted to pray with me first. So, he prayed with me and then got on one knee and asked me to marry him!! Of course, I said yes!! We are so excited to say "I do" on May 31st and continue our life together!!
Here's Jacob's perspective:
I met Janey my freshman year playing softball. I had a friend who knew her and told her me and my roommate played and she added us to the team. I believe it was the best decision she has ever made! The first thing I noticed about Janey was that she was beautiful and she was athletic. Who wouldn't be attracted to that? We got each other's phone numbers so we could get in touch for games and just started talking to each other, and I really started to like her and I liked talking to her. Soon after the season was over it was thanksgiving break and I went hunting, and she will probably tell you that I didn't like her because I didn't talk to her much over break, but that was definitely not the case. The way I thought I felt about Janey was something new for me. I never really dated in high school and never really cared for someone the way I cared for Janey and I didn't really know how to react to the situation. But after break we started talking constantly and I knew Janey wasn't like any girl I had met before. She was nice and funny, had a big heart, loved kids, and genuinely cared about me and I could tell I meant something more to her as well. But one of the most important things about someone who I would consider dating was that they be a Christian and by seeing her at the Wesley Foundation and just by talking to her I knew that she was strong in the faith. My whole life I had tried to find something wrong with a girl I cared for, but with Janey, I found nothing. When I came back from Christmas break, Janey and I were always together and by the time I was ready to ask her to be my girlfriend, I felt like we already were. I asked her out on valentines day in 2011, and of course she said yes. The first time I ever told her I loved her was before we went on spring break. She had already made plans before she met me so we had to go to different places, and I have never missed someone so much in my life. It was hard to even have fun because I just wanted to be back with her. This was really when I knew for sure Janey was the girl for me. I believe that God hand picked her for me and I thank him everyday for her. I will never deserve Janey and I only hope that I can make her as happy as she makes me. It may sound cliched, but she is the best thing that has ever happened to me! We have had so many great memories and experiences together and I can't wait for all of the new ones to come! I love Janey so much and am so excited that I get to be with her forever!
